FLEA CONTROL / FLEA REMOVAL
HERTFORDSHIRE & BEDFORDSHIRE
Flea Control Hertfordshire – We provide flea control throughout Hertfordshire to rid you of flea infestations. If you are suffering from a flea problem in your property, you have most likely seen signs of them in your pets hair, just seen them generally in areas of the property or perhaps are even being bitten yourself. If your pest has been scratching a lot, you should check their fur, fleas are very small but with close inspection they are visible. Fleas are dark brown in colour and roughly 1-2 mm long.
If you have just moved into a property that used to have a pet, you could also be suffering as without an animal around the fleas will focus on humans. Fleas are mainly a problem in the summer time but warm central heated homes can also mean it’s possible to get a flea infestation in the winter as well.
Cat Fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) infest carpets where they the lay eggs before jumping on a passing pet. If a home has fleas from a previous owner who had an animal but is now pet free, there is a high risk of fleas feeding on humans.
Fleas are tiny, sucking insects with adults usually ranging between 1-2 mm long. This makes them difficult to spot on the fur coat of animals but not impossible, with close inspection they will be visible. Female cat fleas lay eggs on an animal host, which then hatch into larvae and feed on organic material (mostly dried blood). In some cases the animal being fed on by the fleas can become allergic to substances contained in the saliva of the flea and the host can lose blood to the point where it will become dehydrated.
Fleas can also transmit parasites and infections to the host as well, causing itching and irritation.
